Women of the ELCA - Circles

WELCA consists of the following three women's circles each of whom have chosen projects to benefit the needy and do a one-hour bible study each month:

Ruth/Dorcas Circle – Collects and assembles personal care kits that are sent to Lutheran World Relief who sends them where the need is greatest.

Mary-Martha Circle – Meets twice a month to create beautiful quilts from donations. These quilts are then sent to Lutheran World Relief.

In addition to these circles, there are several committees, such as:

  • The Growth Committee - Focuses on sharing the news about Gloria Dei.
  • Church Women United - Meets monthly with other area churches to celebrate unity in diversity and works for a world of peace and justice.
  • Lutheran World Relief - Distributes the hundreds of quilts that Mary-Martha Circle members make every year to victims of disaster throughout the world.

In addition to the work that the WELCA circles and committees perform, the WELCA Board produces Spring and Fall fashions shows, assembles and delivers fruit baskets at Christmas for shut-ins, and organizes Rachael's Day in May to broaden awareness of the violence suffered by children.

Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month. The committees and circles present their committee reports to the membership on their ongoing projects. There are four board officers each of whom are elected for a two-year term.
