On May 24 we welcomed Jeanne
and Doug Holley, and Sheila O'Donnell to the Gloria Dei
family.

Jeanne and Doug Holley
were both raised in the Lubbock area. Jeanne
keeps busy here in Lubbock as the
Technology Manager at Parsons Elementary,
while Doug works here and travels
some as a Corporate Trainer for
Robert Madden,
Inc.
They are great fans of
Tech sports - especially
basketball and football - and try not to
miss very many games. They
were married in 1970, and have one
son, Matt.
Matt and his wife, Nealy, also live in Lubbock where Matt is
employed by Wells Fargo and Nealy is an
Art Specialist for Lubbock ISD.
They
have enjoyed worshipping at Gloria
Dei over the past year and look
for many more to come. WELCOME
Jeanne and Doug!

Sheila O’Donnell
comes to Gloria Dei from Ascension Lutheran Church Shelby, NC. She
moved to Lubbock in February 2009, but isn’t new to Lubbock having
first moved here in 1987 when her husband, Bill, was stationed at
Reese. Born into a Catholic family in New Britain, CT, she is the
oldest of 6 children, and the only living survivor of triplets. She
became Lutheran after her marriage to William Smith in 1976. Sheila
has three children, Charles of Shelby, NC; Peter of Sherman, TX; and
Evelyn of Rome, NY.
Sheila has had some unique challenges in her life, but her life-long
faith has helped her through these challenges and led her to the
discernment process of attending seminary. She has always felt this
calling and continues to pray about it. She wants to finish her two
year degree in General Studies and knows that the Lord will guide
her in finding an answer. Currently, she is employed part-time at
Catherine's Clothing Store, but is looking for full time employment
in her trained profession as a dental assistant. She is an avid
reader, likes to bowl, and likes to play chess. She also holds a
blue belt in Taekwondo. Sheila, of course, is an avid TT Raider fan,
but admits that she also roots for U Conn because her sister Chris
played for the Huskies Woman's Basketball Team.
Her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:29-31: He gives strength to
the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow
tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope
in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like
eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be
faint.
WELCOME Sheila!
