Thursday Bible Study
The Thursday Women’s Bible
Study meets at 3 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each
month. We are studying Women of the Bible: 52
Bible Studies for Individuals and Groupsby Jean Syswerda. If you would like a copy of this
book, contact Susan Little, or you can order it from
Amazon.com. (There is also a companion devotional book by
Ann Spangler and Jean Syswerda which is not necessary for
our study.)
February study
topics:
February 11--We will study Rahab. "Rahab was both
clever and wise. She saw judgment coming and was able to
devise an escape plan for herself and her family. As
soon as she heard what God had done for the Israelites,
she cast her lot with his people, risking her life in an
act of faith." (Women of the Bible, Jean E. Syswerda, p.
59) February 25--Our group will discuss the
prophetess Deborah. "Her vision of the world was shaped
not by the political situation of her day but by her
relationship with God. Though women in the ancient world
did not usually become political leaders, Deborah was
just the leader Israel needed--a prophetess who heard
God and believed him, whose courage aroused the people,
enabling them to throw off foreign oppression." (Women
of the Bible, Jean E,. Syswerda, p. 63)
All
Bible study groups meet in the Fellowship Hall.
